Modernizing a 70+ Camera Surveillance System Without Replacing Every Camera

Recently, SabreTech helped a customer modernize their surveillance platform while preserving a significant investment in more than 70 existing PoE security cameras. The goal was to gain the benefits of a modern video management platform without the cost and disruption of a complete rip-and-replace project.
By leveraging open standards and careful planning, we were able to deliver a substantially improved experience while avoiding a major capital expenditure.
The Challenge
The customer had a large deployment of legacy PoE security cameras that were still functioning reliably. While the camera hardware remained serviceable, the management platform had become increasingly difficult to use and lacked many of the features available in modern surveillance systems.
A full camera replacement would have required:

To modernize the environment, SabreTech deployed a new UniFi Protect Network Video Recorder (NVR) and integrated the existing camera infrastructure using ONVIF compatibility.
This approach allowed the customer to retain their existing camera investment while gaining the advantages of a modern surveillance platform.
The new system provided:
